Creating an Adobe ID

  1. Go to Adobe sign in page.

  2. Click Get an Adobe ID

  3. Fill in the form and write down the email address and the password you chose. Check the box "I have read and agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy", then click Sign up.

  4. To complete your registration, check your inbox and click the activation URL you will find in the welcome message from Adobe.

Your Adobe ID is the email address you used in the form. Don't forget to write it down, along with the password you chose: you will need this information to configure the software and devices you will be using to read ebooks.

Installing Bluefire Reader (Android & Kobo Arc)

We recommend the Bluefire Reader app for its ease of use, but other free applications are also available. Don't hesitate to try them.

  1. From your device's startup screen, go to the Google Play Store.

  2. Click on the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the screen and search for Bluefire Reader. Select the first result in the list.

  3. Tap the Install button.

  4. Click Accept to authorize the installation. This may take a few minutes.

  5. When the installation is complete, click Open to start the app.

  6. When the app opens, type in your Adobe ID (the email) and the password you chose when you created your Adobe ID, then tap Authorize.

Your device is now set up to read ebooks. You will not have to redo the previous steps.

Checking out and opening a book in Bluefire Reader (Android, Kobo Arc & Kindle Fire)

  1. In your device's Internet browser, find the book you want to borrow on Edmonton Public Library.

  2. In the results page or in the book's details page , click Borrow.

  3. On the loan confirmation page, click Download. You may also download this ebook by following the link that was sent to you by email.

    You have 24 hours to download the borrowed ebook. Downloading it on multiple devices is possible, as long as they are all authorized with the same Adobe ID.

  4. In the "Complete action using" window, click Download to Bluefire Reader.

  5. The book will open in Bluefire Reader. To read it immediately, choose Read Now.
